Mona Tawatao

Mona Tawatao is a Senior Litigator with Western Center on Law and Poverty (Sacramento Office). She has 27 years of legal services experience with a current focus on impact litigation to enforce the healthcare rights and related due process and language access rights of lower-income Californians. Previously, she served for 12 years as regional counsel for housing and land use with Legal Services of Northern California and as co-lead of its Race Equity Project. Mona received her J.D. from UCLA School of Law after which she clerked for the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall in U.S. District Court in the Central District of California. She serves on the board of the Equal Justice Society and the Advisory Board of the Shriver Center’s Racial Justice Training Institute.
