Coral Construction v. Martin

Coral Construction v. Martin (Cal. 2008): EJS joined constitutional law professors, human rights organizations, and legal organizations in signing on to an amicus brief to the California Supreme Court in support of the City and County of San Francisco’s Minority/Women/Local Business Utilization Ordinance. Amici urged the court to uphold the local ordinance, which included bid-discounting and sub-contracting programs requiring good faith efforts to provide MBEs and WBEs an equal opportunity to compete for subcontracts and comply with international treaty obligations, such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
