Professor Margaret M. Russell is a co-founder of the Equal Justice Society and former member of its first Board of Directors.

She is the Associate Provost of Diversity and Inclusion at Santa Clara University and a member of the law faculty.  An expert in constitutional law, civil rights, and civil liberties, she serves on the National Board of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), as a member of the American Law Institute (ALI), a member of the Bay Area legal advisory board of the American Constitution Society, a board member of the Tenpyozan (Soto Zen) Project and the Princeton AlumniCorps, and an advisory council member of the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD-SF)  She is a graduate of Princeton University and Stanford Law School, and was a Fulbright Scholar in Tanzania in 2014.
