Nicole Medeiros Joins Board of Directors of Association of Fundraising Professionals Golden Gate Chapter

All of us at EJS congratulate Director of Development Nicole Medeiros on her joining the board of directors of the Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Her term starts in January 2013.

Founded in 1971, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Golden Gate Chapter provides professional support, education, and career enhancement opportunities for Bay Area fundraising professionals and with close to 400 active members, is one of the largest regional chapters of AFP in the nation.

Prior to joining the chapter’s board, Nicole was an AFP Multicultural Alliance Fellow, Mentorship Fellow and a member of the National Philanthropy Day Awards Committee for the 2012 National Philanthropy Day.

The chapter is helping create diverse leadership in the Bay Area philanthropic sector through its Multicultural Alliance, a professional development and networking program dedicated to fund development professionals that takes into consideration issues of race and ethnicity, class, gender, and sexual orientation as they impact the fund development field and process.

MCA provides monthly educational opportunities, training workshops, timely discussions, and access to other professional development and networking opportunities that enable program participants to hone their essential fund development skills.

“I am honored to serve as a Board Member alongside a talented cohort of committed development professionals,” said Nicole. “I especially look forward to continuing my involvement in the local chapter’s Multi-Cultural Alliance, as we seek to strengthen the pipeline of diverse development professionals. If we do not have new faces, we will not have new ideas. And, if we do not have new ideas, how will we find new solutions? Without diversity, how can any organization remain innovative? I am grateful to join a community of fund development professionals who share my belief that diversity is critical to the successful vitality of our respective organizations and Bay Area communities.”
