The Equal Justice Society unequivocally condemns Trump’s racist tweets against Members of Congress Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ilhan Omar.
Trump employed a common and deplorable tactic of white supremacists – characterizing Americans of color as the “other” – reinforcing the dangerous mythology that being American means being white. Time and again, Trump demonstrates that he is willing to sacrifice the national good for his political fortune.
“The situation is dire,” said Raymond C. Marshall, EJS Board Member. “The sentiments expressed by President Trump—condemned by some, but ignored or championed by others—are not new. We have seen this in the past and we as a country are at grave risk of repeating history—both by those who promote hate and fear, and by those that stand by and watch.”
As we have since we were founded almost two decades ago, the Equal Justice Society is fighting racism and white supremacy every day. As you know from being on our listserv, we share action alerts from us and our allies. We urge you to participate in whatever ways you can.
