Something you can do at home to help level the playing field

While many of us are staying home to prevent the spread of coronavirus, we have an impactful way you can take action to support small businesses that are hurting the most from the crisis.

Currently, small businesses run by women and people of color lose out on $1.1 billion in public contracts ANNUALLY because of California’s ban on equal opportunity policies in public contracting, hiring and education. And we all know that these small businesses will be the hardest hit by any downturn in the economy.

Now, more than ever, we need to bring back fairness to our public contracting and employment practices so that women and people of color recovering from the coronavirus crisis can keep their businesses open and provide good jobs.

That’s why EJS is proud to support ACA 5 — the California Act for Economic Prosperity — which will restore affirmative action and level the playing field for all Californians.

The bill has been referred to the Public Employees and Retirement Committee, and we’ve identified 3 members of the committee who need to hear from you today to pass ACA 5.

CALL ASM. RODRIGUEZ, INLAND EMPIRE

CALL ASM. COOLEY, EAST SACRAMENTO COUNTY

CALL ASM. O’DONNELL, LONG BEACH

ACA 5 will ensure that any government action to support small businesses will actually help the most vulnerable in our community.

So please, take action today. Thank you!
