One of my favorite people in life is the fabulous Dale Minami. We have been good friends for decades and revel in schooling each other on the history of our respective communities.
Recently he asked me if I had seen the exchange between the Dean of Yale Law and our Berkeley Law buddy Dennis Roberts. I finally tracked this intriguing story down and learned that the Dean, though clearly very well-educated, knew little to nothing about the travails of Black attorneys in the South in the ’50s and ’60s.
Well, let me stop now and let Dennis’ lesson and letter speak for itself. The letter is four pages long but well worth your time.
